The design, explained

Relay is built on the observed behavior of developer buyers: they skip the hero copy, hunt for the install command, and judge the product by its documentation. So the install command IS the hero, complete with a copy button, and the docs are the navigation, not a footer link.

The terminal aesthetic is functional signaling. Mono display type, prompt-green accents, and a typed command demo tell the reader this product was built by people who share their taste, the single strongest trust signal in this market.

Monetization follows adoption: the free path to first success is frictionless, and the team tier appears only after the tool has proven itself in the quickstart. The changelog strip, kept honest and semver-disciplined, does the long-term credibility work.

Everything included

  • Hero with install command and copy button front and center
  • Live-typed terminal demo of the core workflow
  • Quickstart in three copy-paste blocks
  • API reference preview cards
  • Changelog strip with semver discipline
  • Open-source proof: stars, contributors, license

The conversion system

  • Install command as the primary conversion, adoption before signup
  • Quickstart designed to reach first success in five minutes
  • API preview building confidence in the surface area
  • Team/pro tier as the monetization path after adoption

Why it works

  • Speaks fluent developer: no marketing gloss between reader and tool
  • Copy-paste onboarding converts at the terminal, not the pricing page
  • Docs-forward structure earns organic traffic on API-intent queries
  • Mono aesthetic costs nothing and signals everything

Best for

  • CLIs, SDKs, APIs, and infrastructure tools
  • Open-source projects with commercial tiers
  • Any product whose buyer reads documentation before pricing
